Beihang University, established on October 25, 1952, is located in the Haidian District of Beijing.It is the first university in New China focusing on aeronautics and astronautics.The university was formed by merging the aeronautical departments of eight institutions, including Tsinghua University, and was initially named Beijing Institute of Aeronautics.In May 1959, Beihang became one of the first 16 key universities in China.In November 1981, it became one of the first institutions authorized to confer doctoral and master's degrees in China.Over the years, Beihang has developed into a research-oriented university with a strong emphasis on aeronautics, astronautics, and information technology, offering a wide range of disciplines including engineering, science, management, humanities, law, economics, philosophy, education, medicine, arts, and interdisciplinary studies.The university currently offers 80 undergraduate programs, 36 first-level disciplines (including 34 authorized to confer doctoral degrees and 36 authorized to confer master's degrees), and 26 post-doctoral research stations, covering 10 academic categories.Beihang holds leading positions in disciplines such as Aeronautical and Astronautical Science and Technology, Instrument Science and Technology, Materials Science and Engineering, Software Engineering, Control Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Mechanics, Transportation Engineering, Management Science and Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering.
